Search runs on the Disability Atlas, our sister site, which holds every listing. Always call ahead to confirm they take your insurance and are taking new clients.
How to choose
The most important thing is a good fit: someone you feel comfortable with. It is normal to try more than one person.
- Kind of help. Talk therapy, medication, or both. See kinds of care.
- Cost. Do they take your insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare? Do they offer a sliding scale?
- Format. In person, by video, or by phone.
- Experience. With what you are going through, your age group, or your culture and language.
- Availability. Are they taking new clients, and how long is the wait?
Questions to ask
- Are you taking new clients? How soon could I start?
- Do you take my insurance? What will I pay per visit?
- Do you have experience with what I am dealing with?
- Do you offer video visits?
- What happens in the first session?
